Privacy Policy
Last updated July 2026.
Students for the Exploration and Development of Space ("SEDS," "SEDS-USA," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) student nonprofit. This policy explains what information we collect through seds.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Today, this site collects information only when you give it to us directly:
- Contact form or email submissions (name, email, message).
- Chapter or partnership applications (organization, contact details, responses you provide).
- Newsletter or Discord signups you opt into.
We do not currently operate member accounts or a login portal. When we launch the chapter and alumni portal, this policy will be updated to describe account information (name, school affiliation, chapter role), authentication data, and any chapter records (grant submissions, officer rosters, event attendance) collected through it — access to that data will be limited to what's needed to run the portal and will never be sold.
How We Use Information
- To respond to inquiries and process chapter or partnership applications.
- To send updates you've opted into (newsletters, chapter communications).
- To operate and improve the SEDS-USA organization and this website.
We do not sell personal information.
Minors
Some SEDS chapters are based at high schools, so young people under 18 may interact with this site or a future portal. We collect no more information from minors than is necessary for chapter participation, and a parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review or request deletion of a minor's information.
Cookies & Analytics
We may use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand site traffic. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Third-Party Services
Donations are processed by Givebutter under its own privacy policy; we don't store your payment details. Community discussion happens on Discord, governed by Discord's privacy policy. Links to partner and sponsor organizations are governed by their own policies once you leave seds.org.
Data Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — for example, chapter applications and grant records for the life of the chapter's recognition, and newsletter contacts until you unsubscribe.
Your Rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or unsubscribe from any list, by contacting us below.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update the "last updated" date above when this policy changes, including when the chapter/member portal launches and new data practices apply.
