The Pegasus Dwarf is given at discordant distances in recent sources: While Mike Irwin lists it at about 6 million light-years, well at or beyond the edges of the Local Group, Mateo (1999) has it at about 2.5 million ly, and Van den Bergh (2000) at slightly over 3 million ly, which both make it a certain member of the group. We adopt a value of 3 million ly here, which would make it a possible outlying member of the M31 subgroup.
The image of the Pegasus Dwarf in this page was obtained by
Deidre A. Hunter of Lowell
Observatory. It is an UBV image, i.e. a false-color combination of images
obtained in the following spectral bands or ranges: U-band (UV) represented
blue, B-band (blue) represented green, and V-band (visible light) represented
red. It was taken from D.A. Hunter's
UBV collection.
