I am of the opinion that something is not actually better simply because it has changed. Take the new Blogger update- for some reason when I started posting URLs it automatically prefixed everything with the URL of the server on which my blog is posted. This did not appear in my code, so I couldn’t fix it. For some reason the problem seems to have partially resolved itself, so I’m going to resume blogging in the next few days.

It’s not about
WMDs.
It’s not about
9/11.
It’s not about
democracy.
As it always is with government, it’s about power, control, and greed.
War is the health of the state.

Okay, it’s settled. Rush Limbaugh really
IS a big, fat idiot.
Back in March, he
urged a boycott of the Dixie Chicks for Natalie Maines’ remark dissing The Shrub for his (then) impending war on Iraq.
Now after making a comment about NFL player Donovan McNabb being overrated because the media wants a black quarterback to do well, how does Rush respond to charges that the remark was rascist?
Rush complains, “I said something that they find disagreeable. I said something that not only do they not agree with, I said something that they prefer not to hear. And so, they have risen up here and are demanding my head on a platter simply because I haven't said what they want to hear.”
Gee, how is that different from what you did to the Dixie Chicks, Rush? You should have stuck with your explanation of why the comment wasn’t rascist and left it at that.

I love irony. Really I relish it. Imagine then how tickled I was upon hearing the headline on last night’s ten o’clock news that Biosphere II- which has long been touted as a living environmental laboratory- was
fined $30,000 for improper hazardous waste storage. Well, I guess that’s one way to achieve its
mission- “to focus public attention on the issues related to Earth systems planning and management”. Hahaha. I love it, I love it, I love it.

Just as I thought the rain was over for the summer, we were rewarded with a solid couple of days of showers courtesy of Hurricane- make that Tropical Storm- no make that Tropical Depression- Marty. The rain jacket I purchased for use on a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest which went unused has become rather handy. I just love the rain. The day before yesterday we had the moderate yet continuous sprinkling which I have come to associate with Seattle, and yesterday morning we sustained a heavy downpour everywhere along my long route to work. Thanks, Marty!
